The Dubai Press Club today hosted a special gathering to celebrate the success of the 9th edition of the Arab Media Forum and Arab Journalism Awards that were organised under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Held at the Dubai Press Club Conference Hall, the special gathering honoured representatives of the event sponsors including Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), Arab Media Group (AMG), Nakheel, Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), Emirates airline, Jiwin Public Relations and Elaph.

Maryam Bin Fahad, Executive Director of Dubai Press Club, honoured over 60 UAE national volunteers from media and communications colleges in the UAE universities, as well as government and private sector institutions for extending ground support at Arab Media Forum 2010. The volunteers supported the core DPC team in receiving overseas delegates, in addition to handling the logistics requirements as well as manning the information and media centre at the forum.

Special certificates of appreciation were awarded to the volunteers and Dubai Press Club staff members in recognition of their contribution.

Maryam Bin Fahad said: “Judging by the marked increase in participation, the insightful topics on the agenda that facilitated considerable sharing of experience, strong regional representation, and significant contributions by sponsors, volunteers and staff members towards logistical and technical arrangements as well as overall planning made AMF 2010 one of the most well-organised events on the Arab world’s annual media calendar.

“The highly resourceful team at Dubai Press Club will continue to host events for the benefit of the media sector. We are confident media professionals as well as students will enroll in large numbers for special programmes including workshops and seminars that are organized throughout the year at the Dubai Press Club premises.”

Held from 12-13 May at The Atlantis-Palm, Arab Media Forum 2010 served as an effective platform for Arab and international journalists to network and examine emerging trends and challenges in the industry. More than 2,400 international and Arab journalists from 36 countries attended the event that registered a 30 per cent increase in participation over the previous edition.

Themed ‘Shifting Mediascape: Inspiring Content…Expanding Reach’, the event saw nearly 70 speakers including influential decision-makers from the visual, print, audio and online media segments exploring a roadmap for the industry’s future.
