With wide and direct media coverage of natural disasters and the damage they cause all around the world, media across the globe.
Have helped generate increased humanitarian interest in rescue and rehabilitation efforts. Disaster coverage has greatly contributed to increasing general safety standards and mitigating the consequences that are caused by those tragedies.
Although the Arab region fortunately has had limited exposure to natural disasters, it has still witnessed war and terrorism. Some observers believe that the Arab media play a marginal role in the coverage of disasters, whether they are in Arab countries or elsewhere in the world.
This session aims to highlight the media coverage of disasters and the means to develop it in the Arab world.
