Joe Lauria is a New York-based, independent foreign affairs correspondent, investigative journalist and author.  He is the United Nations correspondent for the Wall Street Journal and the Johannesburg Star and has written for The Sunday Times of London, the Boston Globe, Bloomberg News, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian and The Montreal Gazette, amongst other publications. He has appeared regularly on BBC World, CNN and numerous radio programs.  While at the UN, Joe has written about the Middle East, Africa, North Korea and Iran for two decades. He recently spent six weeks traveling to five countries in the Middle East in the midst of its historic change. Joe Lauria has co-authored 'A Political Odyssey' along with former US Senator and American presidential candidate Mike Gravel. The book is a study of the history of the American defence industry and the exaggerated threats it has thrived upon.
