Dr. Al Ghabra is the director of Strategic and Future Studies Center and the founding president of the American University in Kuwait (2003-2006). He has served as the Director of the Kuwait Information office in Washington DC. Ghabra earned his PhD in Government with focus on comparative politics, public administration and organizations from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Ghabra has received Kuwait's highest award for scientific research in the Humanities and Social Sciences from the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences. Dr. Ghabra has to his credit a number of articles, researches and media contributions. His book 'Palestinians in Kuwait: The Family and the Politics of Survival' was named by 'Choice' as Outstanding Academic Book of 1989. His book 'Kuwait: a study of the dynamics of state and society' was unique in its approach to Arab democracy. He has also published studies on the American-Style Higher Education in Arab Countries and the Kuwaiti-American relations.
